Archangel Uriel – inner unity, stability and higher perspective

Uriel appears in early Jewish and Christian apocalyptic writings. His name is commonly understood as ‘light of God’ or ‘fire of God’; he is associated with insight, instruction and revealing order.

Who is Archangel Uriel?

Uriel is not named in the canonical Hebrew Bible or New Testament. His major early sources include 1 Enoch and the apocalypse known as 2/4 Esdras; their canonical status differs among traditions.

In 2/4 Esdras 4:1 Uriel is sent to answer Ezra. In 1 Enoch he guides and explains visions and cosmic order. Later roles must be distinguished from these early texts.

What does Uriel's name mean?

Common Hebrew interpretations are ‘God is my light’, ‘light of God’ and ‘fire of God’. Light can signify understanding and disclosure.

In ZOMYO this is not omniscience or guaranteed enlightenment, but an invitation to see our patterns more clearly and use insight responsibly.

Uriel remains important in several Eastern Christian and other traditions. Latin Catholic liturgy names only Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, so every claim needs its source layer.

What do the scroll, light sphere and earth sphere mean?

The scroll or book is a later artistic attribute of Uriel's teaching role. It symbolises turning information into understood inner knowledge; it is not a prescribed object in an early text.

The light sphere recalls Uriel's name and clear recognition. In the ZOMYO image it represents seeing the larger relationship and integrating the four qualities.

The lower earth sphere means stability, embodiment and remaining connected with reality. Together with the vertical axis it shows that higher perspective becomes useful when brought into everyday life.

The four subtle lights meeting at the heart are ZOMYO's own symbol for the unity of Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel, not a historical religious attribute.

Haniel, Netzach and Uriel – what must remain separate?

The supplied passage from Nicholas C. Demetry connects Haniel with Netzach, Venus, beauty, love, inspiration and the desire for change. This belongs to Demetry's book-based Kabbalistic system.

Haniel and Uriel are not generally treated as the same archangel. Traditional lists usually distinguish them. ZOMYO's Uriel quality is its own reflective relationship, not a claim that the two historical figures are proven identical.

Uriel is connected with FOUR and earth. His colour is silver-white; his qualities include stability, realisation, inner order and conscious integration of the four archangelic elements.

Unity of the four qualities

Michael's fire, Gabriel's emotional water, Raphael's clarifying air and Uriel's stable earth need not work against one another. With awareness they can become complementary strengths.

Unity is not permanent perfection. It is a reflective direction: noticing what is excessive, what needs support and what genuinely serves our next step.

Transformation and a grounded higher perspective

Uriel's transformative quality can help us step back from old dogmas and patterns formed through difficulty and pain. It is not an escape from reality, but a wider view from which we can decide what to keep, release and build through realistic action.
